Appointment and Commissioning
To become a notary or renew your notary commission in this state, you must meet the following requirements:
- be at least 18 years of age
- be a resident of this state
- possess your civil rights (a felon cannot be a notary)
- have never had your notary commission revoked in another state
You must complete the online notary training class through the Secretary of State’s training site and pass an exam.
